IROS 2018 is building a strong program at a good pace and the program overview can already be checked. The SPC meeting took place at the beginning of June in order to build the Technical Program, and will be announced in early July.

In parallel, all the competitions have their calls for participants open, with different deadlines. From grasping to drones, including landmine detecting, this year’s competition section is willing to attract multitude of participants from different fields. As an example, the MathWorks Minidrone Competition will introduce participants to the Model-Based Design workflow using Simulink. Deadline is on July 27th, participation is free and no purchase is required.

IROS2018 will also hold an Autonomous Driving Demonstration covering different aspects: low or medium speed, perception, localization and mapping, control-planning-decision making, cooperative systems, or driver-vehicle interaction. The demonstration activities will be open to the public on October 3rd, at the Center for Automation and Robotics of Arganda del Rey.

The program will increase since the Call for Late Breaking results will be open from July 1st to August 19th. This call is intended to reach out to the broader robotics research community and is a great opportunity for researchers to get feedback on their work.

The enthusiasm for IROS 2018 is reaching more important companies. We are honored to announce Bosch as the first Diamond sponsor; JD LOGISTICS as Platinum Sponsor, and our new Golden Sponsor Santander. PILZ, SAGA Robotics, SoftBank Robotics, HITACHI, and Khalifa University support IROS 2018 as Bronze Sponsors. Also new exhibitors have joined us: MINT with its project Robobo, NOW PUBLISHERS, the IOC from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and LG.
